Known as D.P.S. 15, the blade material is produced by Takefu Special Steel Company, Ltd. in Japan. It consists of a VG-10 stainless steel core sandwiched between two outer layers of Damascus steel. Each of the Damascus layers is composed of 15 layers of forge-welded steel, beautifully patterned and etched to reveal the detail of the structure. The finished blade, which is meticulously flat ground for superior edge geometry, features a total of 31 layers of steel and offers an exceptional blend of strength, cutting performance, and beauty.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eTo complement the dramatic blade of this Delica, the handle is precision machined from solid 6AL-4V titanium. This state-of-the-art material is prized for its light weight, extreme toughness, and superior strength. The titanium scales are precision machined and bead blasted to a handsome grey finish. They are supported by a stainless steel back spacer and mated to the blade by a high-strength back lock mechanism. All components are assembled with precision stainless steel Torx® hardware and meticulously hand finished.
